Portions of the Bible were first translated from Greek into Latin as early as 100 AD. Latin was the Lingua Franca of the vast Roman Empire stretching across Europe.

Some of these languages are only spoken by a few hundred people and have no orthography (writing system) so audio or verbal scripture reading is necessary.
